I think I might be a little harsh about my experience at Blenheim, but after visiting all these great places we end up in this location that seemed to be almost a high cost tourist trap. I’m sure if the triathlon hadn’t blocked my initial impression of the palace I may have a different view. Having visited other World Heritage Sites in my travels this one seemed to be more trying to sell itself as an important place instead of just being. At the end of the “Untold Story” it was amusing having a quick message from the 11th Duke. I was waiting for him to start chatting about sales and gift shop items. It does look like the Duke has figured out how to have enough of an income to be able to keep Blenheim in the family instead of selling off relics as his ancestors have. I think it was a combination of the weather and the limitations in place because of the triathlon set up may have clouded my judgement… unfortunately I don’t think at the price on admission I will be heading back to give it another chance, there are too many other lovely places in England to visit.
