On Saturday Sue, Cecil & I attended a charity auction to benefit the Exotic Feline Rescue Center (a great organization that helps out big cats who end up homeless).  While we both attended to support the organization we each had our own secondary reasons to be there.  Sue always likes to get ideas as to how silent auctions can be more efficient.  This group was using a text based bidding system so you would use your cell phone to bid on items.  I, on the other hand attended because I had been asked to submit some artwork for the auction. What you see posted today is that artwork.

As for the strip I kept trying out different ideas and finally decided (after the suggestion of including Max’s friend Kisa) to do a comic strip.  I wasn’t sure of an exact deadline, so the work was dropped off Wednesday (probably late) for a Saturday Auction.  I figured that it would be hung somewhere and would help out the cause.

Here is where the temperamental artist in me comes out… We showed up and the strip was propped up on the floor & didn’t even have an item number on it.  I wasn’t happy, but decided to try to enjoy the event.  I came back about 30 minutes after everything started and at least a item number had been added, so I decided to try out this system and see what it was going for.  I then made the initial bid on it, since the frame was worth that much & I was a little curious if it would get any other bids.  About 90 minutes pass when I get a text saying that I have been out bid!  Hooray, but we still haven’t covered the cost of the frame, so I bid once more.  Yes, the result was after two bids I won my own piece of artwork… haven’t decided what to do with it since it doesn’t match the sofa.

What have a learned from this endeavor- I shouldn’t do this again.  A monetary donation it is easier.

Charity… Meow
