I know I’ve commented about this before, but I thought one time “with feeling” dealing with the lines at many conventions. I always find it fascinating what warrants a long line and what doesn’t. Getting into the exhibit hall at opening? Sure, GenCon was better than ComicCon. Seeing an Eisner award winning artist or writer talk? Makes sense (sadly not reality, but it should be). Getting the autograph of my favorite actor? for me, not so much, since I tend to get tongue-tied and don’t know what to say… that and many actors charge for autographs & photos.
The funny thing is that the lines at places like Comic-Con are controlled to give you some hope. The have to break them up because the Fire Marshal would get grumpy. LInes for Hall H & Ballroom 20 are notorious for their length. The one that surprised me this year… Will Call at GenCon for the first two days was horrible and I really feel sorry for anyone who had to go through it. Then again, if it’s a convention you’d better expect to wait in a line.
