My edX class finished yesterday- if you are interested a new section starts in August. With a flurry of STEM camp and other commitments this week (add in a little fear) I had put off converting a portion my Gizmo Girl script into a comic page. So yesterday was the deadline to turn something in (due to a communal fear of drawing- edX had made actual drawing optional). So I dropped Sue off at work, and when I got home I started working. Think of 24 hour comic day. I took the script and divided it into panels, then tried to figure out decent page breaks, drew out the panels, added the script or notes, and started drawing. By 4:00 my hand was numb, but I had most of this scene inked. It went from a simple one, “maybe two” pages to three. I like some parts, and am still working through the bugs on some others. No time to color, but I thought I should share it. We are actually towards the end of the story where Gizmo Girl confronts her first villain – Doctor Doohickey. I repeat, it isn’t finished, but I wanted to share the progress. As the off season continues I’m hoping to get the entire comic done and ready for publication by the end of the year.
Please Note: I’m still working through some things and this may only end up being notes for the actual final comic… there are many aspects I really like, but there are also some things I’m not happy about- but you have to start somewhere. All that said- I present to you Gizmo Girl.
