There are different kinds of cachers out there, some try for unique finds, others won’t try anything other that the “park & grab” some will move heaven and earth to be the first to find, and some will only go the the most difficult challenges they can find.  Then there are those who the numbers are important…  Numbers? you ask, You mean you actually keep score?  Well, yes & no.  There are milestone caches, the earlier in your caching career there are a lot of them.  Some seem impossible, while others just take a little work.  These are badges of honor for those who cache.  your first 100 finds, your first 1,000 finds, caches in other states, caches in other countries.  Then for some there is the ever increasing challenge of number of caches in a day.  Cecil averages about a dozen.  After finding a dozen caches he feels that it has been a successful day and anything above that is icing on the cake.  After doing around 40 caches in one day I swore I would never do something like that again.  Next time it was 70 but that was a special case we had hit upon a “power trail” a place where someone had placed over 100 caches each the required 1/10 of a mile apart.  By the time you had fastened your seat belt it was time to get out again and get the next cache.  the first few were amusing- after that mind numbing.  But there are special caches for those who have the “Right Stuff” (caching 100 days in a row, 100 caches in a day, finding a cache on every day of the year, finding a cache in every county in your state, every state in the US, etc.) – I frankly don’t feel the need to try for them- except maybe 100 1:1’s but all in good time no need to rush it. (actually that is the only challenge I think Cecil has accomplished)

As for our scores as of July 23, 2010:

Sue is working on 3,000 finds and should get it this weekend.

Cecil is working on 1,300 and should get it sometime…
