One of the rules when placing a geocache is that it cannot promote a business… basically this is so that Joe’s Dry Cleaners can’t place a cache in their establishment & require you to come in or so that they don’t place a cache in their parking lot and in the description tell you how wonderful they are and if you mention the GC # you get 10% off your next order.  Over the course of my geocaching career I have butted heads with reviewers about this, but once I understood how the rule worked I was able to create geocaches that fit within it.  For example: Sue has a series I created B.C. (Before Cecil) dealing with comic books you should be reading.  It is just to get people to read something new.  There is a series in Indianpolis called the “Hole in the Wall” series where the cache takes you near a restaurant that is a local hang out.  Ours is Hole in the Wall #20.  The restaurant name is not in the title (duh! Gramboli’s Pizza).  SO this leads to the Caching Curmudgeon who has his own very skewed view of the geocaching rules and his role in enforcing them.  While I might tweak the Curmudgeon’s log a bit in most cases these are actual logs from actual caches… scary.

“I use multi-million dollar satellites to find Tupperware in the woods… What’s your hobby?”
