One of the joys of owning a classic automobile (even a not so classic automobile like Tink) is determining when to take it out for a drive. This year I had planned to drive cross country in Tink and join the North American Mini Brigade. That kind of fell to the wayside when I started thinking about what real life things I needed to do this summer. For example, yesterday I had a planning meeting with my teaching team to work on what we will be doing next school year. I have also gotten some things done around the house (still lots to do) but it does make up for not being home at all last summer. Unfortunately for Tink she gets to sit in the garage. If you haven’t noticed the midwest has been having a few summer storms… one almost every other day. This compounded by when it isn’t storming it is hot (I know, duh! it is summer) keeps me from taking Tink out. I haven’t even had a chance to take her to the mechanic to have her semi annual Lucas Infestation check up!
So the car is British it should work perfectly in the rain- England is a wet country (fog and all that). Tink works great , but due to some wonderful engineering when it rains her electrics seem to fail. This has been addressed, but it can still be an issue especially in the Indiana summer storms that hit. This compounded by the heat (her cooling system is on the list of things to have checked out) makes me a little leery taking her out on anything longer than a quick run to Grambolis Pizza. Hmm… maybe moving to someplace where it doesn’t rain much and has a steady temp of around 70 would be better… Oh wait I left that years ago to end up here, but that’s another story.

If you took her out in the last few storms you might find out if she can float.
