Yes next week is the MINIs on the Dragon.  People are probably already arriving and getting in runs.  While some rock slides might curtail some of the fun the actual Dragon is open.  Sue and I will arrive late Thursday and spend the weekend enjoying time with old friends, new friends and some great roads.  I’ll try to blog our adventures so keep up with the blog posts.

While the actual event takes place in Fontana Village (visit the MOTD website for all the details), Sue and I discovered the Blue Waters Mountain Lodge on our first trip down and it has become our little hide away from the bustle of the Fontana.  If you are considering a place to stay in the area, I highly recommend it.  The breakfast (which include scones) are to die for.  While we will only be there a short time we also will have dinner at Blue Waters at least one night.  As for other things we will be doing: we are in charge of a drive to Sylva, NC on Friday & a Geocaching Meet & Greet on Saturday.

For those of you heading out I hope you have a safe trip and see you when we get there (I’ll be the one with the monkey).

    We stayed at Bue Waters Mountain Lodge for our first Dragon in 2006 and it was truely special. Got to canoe as the sun came up one morning and yes the food was awesome. Mike and Maury are great host too. We’ll be driving up on Monday and arriving about 10:00pm ish.

      I’d love to help you out, but the issue is more about how many people can fit in Heinzelmannchen Brewery which is a small place. They will be open throughout the weekend and it is worth the trip.
