So here we are, the first comic, that probably isn’t that funny. I was hoping to capture the feelings I had when I opened the mailbox and found out I had received my fellowship to do all this stuff. There was a brief bit of joy, then that overwhelming dread. I had submitted the proposal in November, and now I needed to go back and check to see what I had said I was going to do. I’m still questioning my character design, but this was pretty much how I intended it. I did go back and hand letter the strip since while traveling I won’t have some of the tech I would like to be able to do computer fonts. Who knows? I may get to the point where I like it. I did give other Lilly Teacher Creativity Fellows a chance to preview this strip at the spring meeting in April, in my defense, they understood the joke having been in my shoes (some more than once). As for the shoes, I did have a pair of slippers like those in college, and thought they would be cool to have again, at least virtually. While my feet may be fuzzy, they aren’t that furry.
