So I head out to the track after the first classroom session and meet my instructor. I ask silly questions “How far up should my seat be?” and stuff like that. The key point that was emphasized to me on the track was to keep my movements smooth. Don’t do anything drastic or quick. Once I found the line I thought “Hey this is fun.” As I gained confidence I noticed that I did spend some time with my hand pointing out the window to signal that it was OK to pass. I figured I’m new and I am learning so this is all part of the process. After a few laps I could tell that while I was enjoying myself… my instructor was bored. Instead of going to the second classroom session he took me out in his MINI and… well… I saw what I MINI could do if driven aggressively and had to get him to stop early before I threw up all over his interior. The next time around I was better and by the time I was about to call it a day I was geared up to actually push the limits of my driving… but that will have to wait until Friday.
