I find it amazing the discussion & national debate about the high cost of healthcare. In Indiana years ago there were complaints about the high cost of education- one of the issues was the design of new schools that had been built, the complaint was that they were building “temples to education” throwing away money to add crazy things. Some of the arguments made sense other pieces were just ways to bash public education. SO now schools are having trouble getting enough money to keep the lights on and medical buildings are springing up everywhere. Not just simple medical buildings, but amazing buildings with amenities that make 5 star hotels look like motels. When valet parking is a requirement, and every room has the most up to date tech… I wonder why healthcare costs so much.

Heatlh care costs so much because too many people are not aware how much it costs. If you have good insurance you pay your monthly fee, whether you never visit a doctor, or if you have loads of visits – you have no idea what each visit costs.
If folks had to pay say 10%, you can bet they’d shop around a bit!

I agree that no one understands the true cost of health care, just as they have no idea what are the real issues in education (teachers only have the kids for about 8 hours… Who is with them the other 16?). My point still is did I need all the amenties? I know I paid for them one way or another.
